Installation and Setup
How do I install the app?
This application is a Chrome extension. To install it, open the Chrome browser, visit the installation page on the Chrome Web Store, and click "Add to Chrome".
Alternatively, you can also open the Chrome Web Store and search for the extension by manageYT !.
If you don’t have Chrome yet, you can download it here.
Can I install it on another browser?
No. Currently, the extension is only compatible with Chrome.
However, once the videos are added to your collection, you can work with your notes from the portal, much like you would using the extension directly on the YouTube page.
Do I need to create an account to use the app?
Ideally, you should create an account so that the data you save is permanent and accessible from other devices. If you don’t create an account, you can try a demo with all the features, but the data you save will be lost when you reload or switch pages.
Functionality
What can I do with this app?
You can take notes at specific moments in YouTube videos, tag videos you’re interested in with color labels, and organize them into categories.
Every time you tag a video or create a note, it’s automatically added to your collection, which you can access from the portal ("My Videos"). From this section, you can search, filter, and play your videos, as well as create, edit, or delete your notes.
How do I start creating notes on a video?
Once the extension is installed, the app button will appear on the YouTube page when you hover over the video. Click it to open the app, where you can log in and start creating notes at the exact moment in the video you choose.
Alternatively, if the video is already in your collection, you can work on your notes from the portal by opening the video from the "My Videos" section.
What happens to the notes when I close a video?
If you logged in with your account, the notes will be saved and available when you reopen the same video, whether from the same device or any other where you log in.
If you are in demo mode, you can try all the app’s features within a single video, but the notes will be deleted when you close it.
Can I manage my notes from the portal?
Yes, you can create, edit, and delete notes directly from this portal without needing to open the video on YouTube. To do this, you'll need to be logged into your account. Add the video to your collection if you don’t have it yet (using the YouTube extension or the "Add video" link on the "My Videos" page), and start working with it whenever you want.
How do I add a video to my collection?
If you want to do it quickly, just tag it with a color label from the extension, and it will be added automatically to your collection.
Videos where you create a new note are added automatically as well.
You can also add a video manually from the portal by copying the video link from YouTube and using the “Add video” option in the “My Videos” section.
Account Management
How do I create an account?
You can create an account from this portal using an email and a username. Upon registration, you will receive an email with instructions to set up a password and activate your account.
Can I change my username or email?
The email associated with your account can be changed from the 'Settings' section on your user page. However, the username cannot be changed once it’s created, so choose it carefully when registering.
What happens if I forget my password or want to change it?
You can reset your password from this portal. You just need to enter the email you registered with; you'll receive a message with instructions to create a new password.
If you have NOT forgotten your password but want to change it, you can follow the same procedure. In this case, you’ll need to log out to access the password reset page.
Can I create an account and log in from the app itself?
You can log in from the app if you already have an account. If not, you’ll need to create one first on this portal.
Synchronization and Accessibility
Can I access my notes from another device?
Yes. If it’s a desktop or laptop, you can install the extension from Chrome and log in with your account. You’ll have access to all your notes, be able to edit them, create new ones, add tags, and use the app just like on your original device.
In any case, you can access your collection from the web portal, available on any device. From there, you can also view, edit, or delete your notes without needing the extension installed.
Is it necessary to be connected to the Internet to use the app?
Yes, you need an Internet connection to save your notes and synchronize them with your account.
What happens if I remove the app from my browser?
If you have an account, your data will remain stored in the cloud. You can recover it by reinstalling the app and logging in again.
Additionally, you can access your notes from the portal at any time, allowing you to view and manage your content even if you’re not using the extension temporarily.
Security and Privacy
Is the app installation safe for my device?
Yes, it is a safe installation. manageYT ! is a Chrome extension available on the Chrome Web Store, where Google reviews all extensions to ensure they are safe and reliable. Additionally, manageYT ! only uses the essential permissions to function properly, without compromising your device's security or altering YouTube's functionality.
Is my information shared with third parties?
No. All data and notes are stored securely and are never shared with third parties.
Are my notes public?
No, your notes are completely private. Only you can access them from your account, and they will not be shared with other users.
Can I permanently delete my account and all my data?
Yes, from 'My Account' you can permanently delete your account and all associated data.
Technical Support
What should I do if the app isn’t working properly?
First, try restarting your browser and make sure you’re using the latest version of Chrome and the app. However, keep in mind that YouTube may change the HTML structure of its page, which could temporarily affect the app’s functionality. So, will my data be deleted if the app stops working due to compatibility issues with YouTube?
No, your data will not be deleted. All your information is securely stored in our database and will remain intact, even if the app experiences temporary compatibility issues with YouTube. You’ll be able to access your data once the problem is resolved.
